Pensionat Granparken was built in 1886 by Hanna Lind's family. Even then coastal town Norrtälje had long been known as a health resort, famous for its open-air baths and mud baths. In addition to the beneficial mud baths they took walks in the pine forest next to Pensionat Granparken, hence the name Granparken. The specially implanted German firs available here, was considered very healthy. During this time it is said that there were a hundred guest houses in Norrtälje. These guests came by steamer boat and train. They often stayed all summer with their family.
